Tornado Recovery with Lighting and Locks

There's a light at the end of the tunnel

We’d like to share our sympathies and thoughts with those affected by the hundreds of tornados that struck the middle part of the country recently. Here at Lighting and Locks, we know just what it’s like to go through such a devastating situation. Less than a year ago, our hometown of Joplin, Missouri was experienced a catastrophic EF5 multiple-vortex tornado. At its largest, this tornado reached a maximum width in excess of one mile during its 13 mile path through our city.

In light of a catastrophe like a tornado, it’s important for people to band together to get their lives back together again. After our Joplin tornado, we were fortune in that our employees and their homes escaped the worst of the damage. However, nearly a third of the city was destroyed and over eight thousand people were left homeless—we couldn’t just sit by and let that go unanswered.

Our employees volunteered to clean up the area and our main showroom and outlet donated lighting profits during the following weeks. On top of all that, we lent our services to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to help them add lighting fixtures to the seven new homes being constructed.

And now it’s time for the people affected by the most recent tornados to band together and create a light at the end of this devastating tunnel.
